Kshetrayya and Annamacharya are among the pioneers in composing Padams.
Later generations also have witnessed some composers of Padams like Sarangapani etc.
Padams have been typically tail end, yet prominent pieces in a cutcheri a sampradaya which is being forgotten in recent times.
To give a philip to the dying tradition the contemporary composer Sri Nallan Chakravarthy Murthy has created a few padams which are presented in this booklet called NAVA NAVYA PADAMULU.
The book contains 9 padams
Four of them are in the ragas traditionally used such as - Saveri, Kapi, Mukhari, Yadukulakambhoji & Huseni.
The remaining 4 have been composed in the ragas namely - Kalavati, Bheemplas, Begada & Vachaspati perhaps for the first time for padams.
